De De Pyaar De 2 review: Amusing Joy Ride, A Perfect Stress Buster
‘De De Pyaar De 2’ – The sequel of the funny 2019 romantic comedy ‘De De Pyaar De’ stays true and at places its funnier and packs hilarious punch. The Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh starrer has R. Madhavan joining in to add more fun along with Meezan Jafri.
De De Pyaar De 2 synopsis
Following the events of ‘De De Pyaar De’, 52-year-old Ashish Mehra (Ajay Devgn) and his 28-year-old girlfriend Ayesha Khurana (Rakul Preet Singh) decide to tie the knot and now Ashish has to meet Ayesha’s family.
Ayesha’s father Rajji (R. Madhavan) and her mother played played by Gautami Kapoor just could not digest the idea of having a ‘damaad’ (son in law) older than them in age.
This creates awkward situations which leads to confusion, fun and chaos, in the midst of this enters a young Sameer (Meezaan Jafri) – childhood friend of Ayesha and things get more complicated.
Following its predecessor, the sequel directed by Anshul Sharma and written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain is amusing joy ride and having punches more effective than the original.
The ‘age’ factor, and inclusion of R. Madhavan along with the intended pun on Ajay Devgn, Madhavan is hilarious. The best part is that the humour is healthy and enjoyable with family.
The dialogues are well written and the timing is perfect. The narration by Anshul Sharma sticks to what has been ordered by the doctors of fun but its not that slapstick and entirely brainless and that’s its biggest USP.
The first half is filled with continuous funny, witty and amusing situations. The second half does falters and it also gets a bit more melodramatic which doesn’t go with the atmosphere and set up.
Anyways, the last 15 minutes and the hilarious climax makes it a fun filled watch for sure.
Music could have been better.
Performances
Ajay Devgn is fabulous, he has his own flair in comedy and he does an excellent job.
R. Madhavan is outstanding
Rakul Preet Singh looks gorgeous and is excellent. This is will be remembered as one of her best performances.
Meezaan Jafri is wonderful, he has the looks, charms and here he does a fabulous job. I don,t know why but from a certain angle from distance, he reminded me of Ranbir Kapoor.
Jaaved Jaaferi has his moments and punches which ae very good.
Gautami Kapoor is competent.
Ishita Dutta is very good and adds to the fun.
Sadly, a talent like Ekavali Khanna is wasted
Good support comes from Tarun Gehlot, Sanjeev Seth, Suhasini Mulay, Gracy Goswami, Jyoti Gauba, Shiwangi Peswani, Ankur Nayyar, Anvesha Vij and Meneka Arora.
