Dhurandhar movie review: An Action Explosion Of Epic Proportion

‘Dhurandhar’ - Aditya Dhar's sophomore directorial is set where his heart is. Cross-border tension, terrorism, patriotism, nationalism, jingoism. Given these topics and sentiments, he creates a package that you can't resist.

The outcome in its totality may be a debatable one, but it guarantees wholesome entertainment.

And given the staple offerings of espionage dramas, ‘Dhurandhar’ comes across as a chapter from the spy-on-a-mission playbook that Bollywood has wholeheartedly owned.

‘Dhurandhar’ sees Hamza(Ranveer Singh) infiltrate the gang of a notorious gangster with political ambitions , Remhman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna) in the troubled Lyari town of Karachi and thereby get into the very core of terrorism - precisely, project Dhurandhar, engineered by our IB Chief, Ajay Sanyal (R Madhavan).

Running a little over 210 minutes, ‘Dhurandhar’ shines with its brutal brilliance - technically sumptuous in almost departments, ranging from the set pieces, the production design, cinematography, the BGM and the fiery action which especially commands a numero uno position in what Bollywood has witnessed so far.

It’s the length that hurts, the chapter-based design resembles a web series in the guise of a film and screams for editing scissors.

Performances are nothing less than spectacular. Ranveer is great when he adopts brevity and let his countenance do the talking. He is understated and shapes up like the wrath of God in the violent action scenes. Actress Sara Arjun is the weakest link and her chemistry with Singh takes too hard to sizzle.

Dhurandhar movie review – final words

What simmers like a flame is Arjun Rampal's thoroughly menacing Major Iqbal and Sanjay Dutt who is incredibly deadly as the SP Chaudhary Aslam. However, the icing on the cake is Akshaye Khanna playing Rehman with an arresting charm and swagger! Rakesh Bedi is wonderful as the unscrupulous party leader.

The last 40 minutes makes it up for the rough patches and scorches the screen on fire. I just can't wait for its follow-up due for 19th March 2026 release.
