Jolly LLB 3 Movie Review

‘Jolly LLB 3’ – finally, it’s something beyond the commercial pressure a blockbuster franchise has to take, with ‘Jolly LLB 3’ writer director Subash Kapoor has got the spine back into Hindi/Bollywood mainstream cinema. An occurrence that is more often seen in Mollywood (Malayalam) cinema where the narrative is against the establishment, Subash Kapoor has shown the guts to make an anti-establishment movie that highlights the plight of farmers and reminds us of its importance in ‘Jolly LLB 3’.

Having a super star like Akshay Kumar in such a film which is against the establishment and questions the limit of development and brings forward the difference between haves and have nots is really commendable.

Subash Kapoor has done this and reestablished the faith of true genuine cinegoers who visit theatres not just for entertainment, they also look for some purpose in the film and search for message.

A dialogue which clearly explains the importance of farmers and it goes like, “Agriculture should be added in syllabus of young students so that they can understand how valuable are farmers to our economy. Otherwise, this net savvy Gen X will may start believing that food gets produced by food delivery giants like Zoma**, Swig** instead of farmers”.

Honestly, I did not expect ‘Jolly LLB 3’ to rise above its previous installments in its theme which is stronger in its social relevance than its previous installments. And it was a pleasant surprise, Subash Kapoor also did the brilliant act of bringing both the Jolly’s together and of course you already have the inimitable Saurabh Shukla as Jude Tripathi.

Yes, the start is routine and shaky and the movie does take its own time to come to its core issue, but when it does, it’s a powerful ride of emotions, entertainment and enlightenment. Plus, it’s a message for those who previously in their hate have downgraded framers and not valued their incomparable contribution to the nation.

Performance

The performances are of highest order over here.

Akshay Kumar as Advocate Jagdishwar 'Jolly' Mishra gets into the character with ease, a true chameleon of an actor and here he is just OUTSTANDING. The concluding argument – clap worthy.

Arshad Warsi as Advocate Jagdish 'Jolly' Tyagi is BRILLIANT. I don’t know why Arshad doesn’t get movies which can do proper justice to his caliber. And yes, Arshad Warsi’s concluding argument – stays with you when you leave the theatre.

Saurabh Shukla as Judge Sunder Lal Tripathi – My God, can anyone better that? Saurabh Shukla as Jude Tripathi is PURE EXCELENCE.

Seema Biswas as Janki Rajaram Solanki – she is such a gifted actress and here she makes us cry with her. Her silence speaks a lot.

Gajraj Rao as Haribhai Khaitan is fabulously subtle and the actor adds his unique flair to the character. You love to hate him.

Ram Kapoor as Advocate Vikram Ray Chaudhary does a commendable job as a hot shot lawyer.

Amrita Rao as Sandhya Tyagi, Jolly Tyagi's wife and Huma Qureshi as Pushpa Pandey Mishra, Jolly Mishra's wife add good support and are part of narrative and not just show pieces.

Avijit Dutt as Dr. Milind Desai has his moments.

Kharaj Mukherjee as District Magistrate Avik Sen Gupta is good.

Shilpa Shukla as Chanchal Chautala is fantastic and brings a quirky twist.

Sushil Pandey as Sahukar Bhardwaj is fine.

Shubhrajyoti Barat as Rajendra Chowdhary is decent.

Raman Atre as MLA Iqbal Singh Shekawat makes his presence felt.

Brijendra Kala as Lawyer Jawed is quite good.

Jolly LLB 3 Movie Review Final Words

A mainstream Bollywood movie with a spine, a movie that concludes with the shouts of ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ and shows a caption which reads

‘WHEN YOU EAT TODAY, THANK A FARMER’.

Such movies deserve patronage from all over, a movie like ‘Jolly LLB 3’ should be watched on big screen, this will encourage filmmakers of today big and small and the gen Next to come up with subjects on mainstream that are socially relevant. Yes, entertainment is necessary but social issues should also find space on the big screen at regular intervals.
