Acclaimed singer Bhupinder Singh passes away
Acclaimed singer Bhupinder Singh known for soulful numbers like Dil Dhoondta Hai, Naam Gum Jaayega, Ek Akela Is Shaher Mein, Beeti Na Beetai Raina etc passed away today – July 18 2022 at 7:45 pm in Mumbai’s Criti care hospital in Andheri, Mumbai. He was 82.
Reports says that according to Late Bhupinder Singh’s wife Mitali Singh who is also a known singer, Bhupinder had colon ailment and his funeral will be held mostly on Tuesday.
Dr Deepak Namjoshi, director of Criticare Asia hospital, said, “Bhupinderji was admitted ten days back to our hospital. He had an infection. We had strong suspicion that he had Colon ailment and we were doing investigations. In the same time, he got Covid-19. His condition worsened on Monday morning and we had to put him on a ventilator. He got a cardiac arrest and passed away at 7:45 pm.’’
Born in Amritsar, Bhupinder started his career with All India Radio and was also associated with the Delhi Doordarshan Center. In 1962, music composer Madan Mohan gave him a break and offered him the song “Hoke Majboor” in the film Haqeeqat, which Bhupinder crooned with Mohammed Rafi, Talat Mahmood and Manna Dey.
Bhupinder Singh is survived by wife Mitali and son Nihal Singh.
