Dhurandhar release row: in whose hands lies the fate of Ranveer Singh starrer, why Major Mohit Sharma family raised objection? complete details

‘Dhurandhar’ starring Ranveer Singh, is in storm of controversy, said to be based on Major Mohit Sharma, who was martyred in 2009 and posthumously honoured with the Ashok Chakra, the movie is facing objections from the family of Major Mohit Sharma.

The parents of late Major Mohit Sharma have approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on its release. The family believes that the film may have been inspired by the life and covert missions of their son without their consent.

After the release of the trailer, speculations started spreading like fire that the movie is based on a secret operation led by Major Mohit Sharma, internet was filled up with stories comparing the trailer and actual events. The family of late Major Mohit Sharma wanted to know the truth. Major Mohit Sharma's Brother Madhur had been quoted in NDTV saying, “We had no other way to get closure, because as family and parents of a son like Mohit, what you need to know is whether someone has taken the courage to carry the legacy forward. If so, it's a proud moment and we would give all our support. If it does not relate to what Mohit is known for and revered for, then we should have clarity. As parents, they should know whether this relates to their son or not."

Aditya Dhar the director and also one of the producers had denied publicly about ‘Dhurandhar’ having any connection with late Major Mohit Sharma's life.

Late Major Mohit Sharma's brother Madhur had alleged that the makers of ‘Dhurandhar’ had not approached them personally and confirmed whether the movie is related to Mohit's life or not.

However, The Delhi High Court has refused to put stay on the release of ‘Dhurandhar’ – the movie may release on its scheduled date – December 05, 2025, but respecting the concerns of the family of the Indian brave heart late Major Mohit Sharma, it has directed the CBFC to take note of concerns of the family and pass the film accordingly.

As per sources, there is a high possibility of a pre – screening which will be attended by the family of late Major Mohit Sharma, the makers of ‘Dhurandhar’, CBFC members and experts from the armed forces to decide on the objections and claims by the makers of ‘Dhurandhar’ and family of Late Major Mohit Sharma.
