Maidaan - Ajay Devgn’s highly awaited sports drama based on the life of the unsung hero of Indian football - Syed Abdul Rahim has ben postponed for the eight time.
Its unusual for a movie to get postponed repeatedly. According to market sources, “the makers of Maidaan have not come out with interesting promotional materials like trailer, etc to make the buzz in the remaining sixteen seventeen days. Maidaan was scheduled to release on June 23, 2023 but after posters and teasers nothing is in hand to create the buzz. The makers of the film are now looking at a new release date and hope to announce it very soon.”
In a surprisingly rare occasion Maidaan has been postponed for the eight time since 2020. November 27, 2020 was the first release date announced later it got postponed to December 11, 2020, August 13, 2021, October 15, 2021, June 3, 2022, February 17, 2022 and May 12, 2022 and June 23, 2023.
Based on the story of the unsung hero of Indian football - Syed Abdul Rahim who created history and records for India, during the golden era of Indian football (between 1952 and 1962).
Maidaan also stars Priyamani, Gajraj Rao along with Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh.
Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta and Akash Chawla, screenplay and dialogues are written by Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shah respectively, Music is by AR Rahman.
