Veteran actor, comedian, Satish Shah passes away
Satish Ravilal Shah popularly known as Satish Shah is no more. He was seventy-four. The veteran actor, comedian who became a household name in 1984 with the television show – ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’ and went on to do memorable roles in movies and television shows like ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, etc passed away due to kidney failure today.
Satish Shah had undergone a kidney transplant some time back, he fell ill today afternoon and was rushed to Mumbai’s Hinduja hospital but was declared dead.
As per reports, Satish Shah last rites will take place tomorrow – Sunday (26 Oct 2025) afternoon at Pawan Hans cremation ground.
Apart from ‘Sarabai V/Sarabai’, Satish Shah will be remembered for his comic roles in films like ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Main Hoon Na’ and more.
The hospital has issued a statement on Satish Shah’s death which reads, “Earlier today, the hospital received an emergency call regarding Mr. Shah’s health. An ambulance with a medical team was immediately sent to his residence, where he was found to be unresponsive. CPR was started in the ambulance itself and continued on arrival at P. D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre. Despite the best efforts of our medical team, Mr. Shah could not be revived.”
Satish Shah won the Filmfare award for his role of Demello in ‘Jaane Bi Do Yaaro’ and the Indian Television Academy Awards for ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’.
Satish is survived by his designer wife Madhu Shah.
