This week in theatres and OTT : Scam, Scares, Love and Survival
This week on Friday i.e 16th September 2022 we have the list of movies and series to be released.

Shiksha Mandal: 
A dense and murky tale of the biggest education scam in the country based on true incidents. This stars Gulshan Devaiah, Gauhar Khan and Pawan Malhotra in lead roles and is directed by Syed Ahmad Afzal of 'Laal Rang' fame. Shiksha Mandal webseries streams on MX PLAYER from 15 September 2022.

Siya :
Pooja Pandey plays the titular protagonist in this social drama about a girl who fights against all odds to wage a war against the injustice and deep-rooted patriarchy after being brutally raped by the powerful men in her village. It stars Vineet Kumar Singh as her lawyer. Siya is written and directed by Manish Mundra of Drishyam Films and releases in theatres on 16th September.

Matto ki Saikil : 
Prakash Jha tries his acting chops and plays a daily wage labourer in this film made by M. Gani which explores how he and his family negotiate on the simple pleasures of life to buy a new cycle which is his only means to reach work on time.

Jahaan Chaar Yaar : 
Taking the lines from a superhighway song of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sharaabi, Jahaan Chaar Yaar is about four women who break away from the shackles of domestic drudgery and decide to live life on their own terms. It is their story, their vacation and an innocent lie. The film stars Swara Bhasker,Shikha Talsania,Meher Vij and Pooja Chopra in the lead and is written and directed by Kamal Pandey. Releases in theatres on 16 September.

Dahan :
One of the most promising releases this week is this Disney+ Hotstar’s original series. Designed as a supernatural thriller, this will keep you hooked to the screen. The nine-episode-long series is helmed by Vikranth Pawar and is set in the fictional town of Shilaspura. Here comes a dark tale of a fabled temple that has dark tales. The locals believe in a myth that any threat to the temple will cast a doom. As modern time approaches, a mining corporation plans to set up a township and extract a rare metal deposit found below the temple. While the superstitions surround the village, an IAS officer is given the task to resolve the conflict between the mining corporation and the locals. The series features Tisca Chopra, Rajesh Tailang, Mukesh Tiwari, Saurabh Shukla, Ankur Nayyar, Rohan Joshi and Lehar Khan.

Jogi :
Based on the 1984 Delhi riots, the movie traces the inspirational journey of three friends and stars Diljit Dosanjh, Amyra Dastur, Kumud Mishra and Zeeshan. Jogi streams on Netflix from 16 September.

Rama Rao on Duty : 
Directed by Sarath Mandava, this Telugu mystery action film stars Divyansha Kaushik, Rajisha Vijayan, and Venu Thottempudi in key roles. Set in the year 1995, this tells the tale of Ramarao, an honest government officer and his fight against the red sandalwood mafia.Streams on SonyLIV from 16 September

College Romance Season 3 :
The latest installment chronicles the different relationships that a college student has and the conflict one goes through in order to maintain them. Created by the Viral Fever and produced by Arunabh Kumar,it is directed by Parijat Joshi. Stars Gagan Arora, Apoorva Arora, Keshav Sadhna and Nupur Nagpal in leads. Streaming on Sony LIV from 16th September.
