Frame review: A Continuously Probing Adage On Morality, Compatibility and Responsibility

‘Frame’ – Marathi Zee5 original starring Nagraj Manjule and Amey Wagh explores the fragile boundary between morality, professional responsibility and humanity in director Vikram Patwardhan’s absorbing and probing drama.

An ambitious new entrant in Photojournalism Siddharth (Amey Wagh) gets lucky enough to work under his idol CP (Nagraj Manjule). In spite of differences in their professional approach, work ethics and ideologies, CP and Siddharth develop a bond. A chain of events leads both of them to cover a devastating earth quake were their ideologies and moralities get tested.

Frame Movie Review

‘Frame’ a layered, complex, and morally challenging human drama, helmer Vikram Patwardhan Marathi movie throws light on what can be behind the stunning images we see on newspapers, magazine etc.

‘Frame’ involves simple ordinary characters who take extraordinary decision when life throws a challenge. A classic example of different humans responding differently to different situations. ‘Frame’ (an interesting metamorphic title) keeps on probing the characters and the audience simultaneously and at times we know at times how they will react which is actually victory of storytelling not predictability as audience do relate to the prime characters – CP and Siddharth.

‘Frame’ is a sensitive film, sensibly made and will find patronage amongst the audience who look for some meaning, sense and sensibility in cinema.

However, the layers of personal relationships of CP with his divorced wife (played by Mugdha Godse) and Siddharth with his love interest (played by Akshaya Gurav) is not developed properly.

Overall the centre point of the bonding between CP and Siddharth does the needful properly.

Performances enhance the drama

Nagraj Manjule gives a mature and controlled performance

Amey Wagh is wonderfully natural

Mugdha Godse and Akshaya Gurav are sincere in whatever screen time they get.

Frame movie review – final words

‘Frame’ is a well devolved human drama that is thought provoking enough to make you think how far a person can compromise on his/her morality to fulfil a desire/dream.

Going with a deserving three and half stars out of five (3.5/5).

‘Frame’ will premiere on Marathi Zee 5 on July 10, 2026.
