Jogi review: The mush that missed the crux

What: Jogi –Diljit Dosanjh wins heart in Ali Abbas Zafar’s directorial based on the 1984 anti Sikh genocide.

However, Ali Abbas Zafar as a filmmaker in his enthusiasm to add extra mush in this disturbing scenario misses the important crux to attain that winning sweep.

OTT movie Jogi review

Not every movie carrying the soul pleasing humanitarian cause amidst holocaust/genocide can be a masterpiece like Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List agree but you cannot miss the crux the juggernaut when required in movie based on real/political facts.

Ali Abbas Zafar’Jogi is not a bad film, but it could have been a brilliant film if not a great film if the director had not restored to convenience like the milk episode and the climax for example.

Maybe Ali Abbas Zafar wanted to stay away from any controversy like his previous Tandav so he skips the debate and focuses mainly on the transport of Sikhs from Delhi’s Trilokpuri’s gully no. 6 to Punjab.

The setting makes sense and beginning right in the middle of the mayhem is a good hook, that’s creates a feeling that a possible juggernaut of emotions will occur but the makers of Jogi are more keen on friendship, love and humanity.

Plus the personal angle in the track of Lali (Hiten Tejwani) is unnecessarily filmy and goes against the theme.

So, is Jogi story of three friends – Jogi, Lali and Rawinder - Kai Po Che in Delhi Punjab?.

What view point does Jogi has, Grahan a terrific web series on the after math of Sikh genocide starring Pawan Malhotra streaming on Disney Hotstar had that soul searching redemption factor that stayed.

Jogi lacks that staying power.
