Do You Wanna Partner Review: The Babes, The Beer and the Business!

‘Do You Wanna Partner’ - Tamannaah and Diana break barriers and craft beer with style, elegance and a whole lot of Jugaad. And like any start-up story, their lives are entwined with the quintessential Gondogol.

Do You Wanna Partner synopsis

Let’s get this straight – Alcohol is not just a guy thing. The business of Beer can’t be gender-bracketed. So when two besties – Shikha Roy Chowdhury aka Shaks (Tamannah Bhatia) and Anahita Makujina aka Mak (Diana Penty) embark on an audacious mission to launch their own craft beer in the male-dominated world of business honchos, dealers and mobsters in the Delhi-NCR, not only do they face obstacles in raising cash and capital, but also rejections germinating from the misogyny and the dismissive patriarchal mind-sets.

But Business is not just the game of money, it requires unflinching passion as its fuel. Together, they defy norms, bend rules and navigate eccentric encounters – that comprises a die-hard arch rival and business bully, Vikram Walia(Neeraj Kabi), a lady lending shark, Laila Singh (Shweta Tiwary) and an apathetic network of dealers and middlemen. In the process, they brew their destiny with style, tenacity and jugaad.

Do You Wanna Partner Review

‘Do You Wanna Partner’ has a solid and surefooted premise of female ambitions and agency, and directors Collin D’Cunha (of Call Me Bae fame) and Archit Kumar gloss it up with heart, humour and the quintessential light-hearted Gondogol (meaning, a mess) running as an undercurrent.

Set amidst the vibrant chaos of the urban life, the start-up story gets a definite arc capturing the highs and lows, and building things from scratch – right from gathering capital to fixing their reliable brew master, Bobby Bagga (a dependable Nakul Mehta), a single father who spruces up the quality with his genius, a legend like figure who goes by the name ‘David Jones’ played by Javed Jaaferi branding, soft launches and expansion.

Scripted by a team of 3 - Nandini Gupta, Aarsh Vora and Mithun Gangopadhyay, and created by Mithun Gangopadhyay and Nishant Nayak, the 8-part series gets a boost in terms of fresh perspectives, unique plot points and storytelling and an accessible nature imbibed in its narrative. What doesn’t work in its favour is the tedious length, attributed to some of the flabby episodes. However, there are bright spots in the form of certain characters like Dylan –who lend dopamine to counter the drag.

Do You Wanna Partner review – final words

Partner rests on the central ladies – Tammanaah and Diana – their effervescent chemistry and spontaneous performance makes it a consistently watchable show despite the shortcomings. They look gorgeous on screen, enacting beautifully to the rhythms and beats of a ‘business woman’. D’Cunha adorns them with sartorial elegance and also provides emotional wallop to their personal stories – and the parts played by Ranvijay Singha and Sufi Motiwala look both refreshing and convincing.

I go with 3.5 out of 5 stars for Do You Wanna Partner. Produced under the banner of Dharmatic Entertainment, with Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, and Apoorva Mehta as producers and Somen Mishra and Archit Kumar as executive producers, the 8-Ep series streams on Amazon Prime from 12th September 2025.
