Web series Gullak season 3 review

Like your favorite dish at your favorite eatery or by your favorite cook, let’s say your favourite dish by the best cook in the world – your mother – Gullak 3 written by Durgesh Singh and directed by Palash Vaswani never goes wrong.

The five episodes series deliciously documents the everyday relatable experiences of a small town.

While the second season dealt with marriage in the family, corruption, belief, faith, fate, bonding, the third season is of growing up, the coming of age of the Mishra family.

Family, bonding, brotherhood, politics, empowerment, friendship, love, the undying spirit of ‘togetherness’ is the highlight of the third season.

The Mishra are at their best one again thanks to the wonderful writing by Durgesh Singh it’s so connected and deeply rooted.

The narration by Palash Vaswani is so calm and flowing like free water, you will just sail along with the emotions experience by the Mishra’s.

Performances

Performances

A show of all round brilliance one again.

Jameel Khan (superb – the last episode excellent) , Geetanjali Kulkarni ( pure brilliance – the ‘agwa’ episode is outstanding.

Harsh Mayar – comes with age and nails it.

Vaibhav Raj Gupta – matures and shines throughout and in the final episode hits it out of the park.

Yes of course Sunita Rajwar makes her mark tibara.

Final words

Straight from life once again (now this line is cliché for Gullak, such has been the consistency).

This time in Gullak season 3 – The life and times of an aam aadmi – the common man, from Gullak by Amrit Raj Gupta (2019) to Palash Vaswani (2021 and 2022) - the winning moments (kisse) that has stayed forever reminding of Kudan Shah’s Wagle Ki Duniya, Basu Chatterjee, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Sai Paranjape movies, gets a ting of Munshi Premchand in its pathos and Harishankar Parsai in its sarcastic ethos. Don’t forget to watch it on Sony LIV.
