OTT web series Maharani 2 review

Opening with a shocking probe Maharani 2 created by Subash Kapoor and helmed by Ravindra Gautam with story and screenplay by Nandan Singh and Subhash Kapoor with dialogues and additional screenplay by Umashankar Singh, Maharani 2 now shifts focus from casteism and corruption to a web of power play, dirty political games, use, misuse of trust, betrayal and karma.

Maharani 2 sees some additional characters coming in - Anuja Sathe as Kirti – the ambitious admirer of Saheb aka Bheema Bahrti, Dibyendu Bhattacharya as the investigating officer and Neha Chauhan as Kalpana – the election strategist\advisor to Navin Kumar bring extra ting to the tale.

The narration flows smoothly keeping you hooked from the very first frame to the end credits.

The screenplay is laced with unexpected twists and surprises which will compel you to binge watch this without taking breaks.

Maharani was the story of women empowerment inspired from the events in Bihar – a simple housewife kept as a puppet by her powerful husband – the CM of Bihar rises to the occasion and fights the barriers.

In Maharani 2 – Rani Bharti is no longer the naive housewife struggling to deliver her oath taking ceremony speech. Here she is a tigress ready to attack, make her move.

Performance

Sony Liv

Huma Qureshi – from the opening shot to the final end credit scene is a picture of outstanding brilliance and perfection laced with rare nuances and subtlety. There is not a second when we're not on Rani Bharati’s side. Bravura Huma Qureshi Chaap Ke…Gazab.. Phir Se. Maharni will remain Huma Qureshi’s most memorable role.

Sohum Shah is pure brilliance.  Natural, restrained with rare grace Bheema Bharati in spite his deadly dangerous and wicked games wins your heart. In scene when he comes out after filing his nomination papers and encounters Rani, the expressions when Huma challenges him is a testimony of his superb timing of perfection in expressions.

Amit Sial packs a punch again.

Anuja Sathe shines bright

Neha Chauhan is fantastic.

Kani Kusruti is outstanding.

Pramod Pathak is brilliant once again.

Dibyendu Bhattacharya is amazing

Vineet Kumar as Gauri Shankar Pandey is marvelous.

Sushil Pandey as Kunwar Singh is fabulous.

Mohd Ashique Hussain as Prem Kumar is fantastic.

Final words

Have said earlier when I reviewed Maharani – its SonyLIV’s best after Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. First came the bull, and then came the fodder. When is Maharani 3 - Order Order.
