The RajaSaab movie review: Darling Rebel star Prabhas stars in a torturetainment worth 400-core

Sad sad ‘The RajaSaab’ is so bad, does darling rebel star Prabhas really cares

The year 2026 has just started and we already have the top contender for the worst of the year, The ‘RajaSaab’ (there spelling not mine) is a colossal waste of around 400 crores. Directed by Maruthi (known for decent entertainers like Ee Rojullo (2012), Bus Stop (2012) and Bhale Bhale Magadivoy (2016). With the same money Maruthi could have made eight to ten entertainers like those mentioned in the bracket, the ones which gave him name and recognition.

‘The RajaSaab’ is a pathetic torturous hotch potch and disjointed saga that sees Prabhas indulging in crazy moves wearing a lungi and Sanjay Dutt becoming a King Kong size giant in this ho-hum in the name of entertainment which is in fact torturetainment.

‘The RajaSaab’ is a story of Raju aka RajaSaab (Prabhas)

who leaves his advance Alzheimer struck grandmother (Zarina Wahab) in search of his grandfather (Sanjay Dutt) who is believed to be a caretaker of a certain treasure of a certain riyasat (kingdom) which is stolen some decades ago?. In his mission finding ‘Dadaji’ bole toh grandfather in English, RajaSaab encounters horrifying secrets.

The writer director of ‘The RajaSaab’ Maruthi ji demonstrates how to spoil four hundred cores and talents like Prabhas and Sanjay Dutt plus he makes three ladies - Malavika Mohanan as Bhairavi, Nidhhi Agerwal as Bessy and Riddhi Kumar as Anitha end up as just decorative pieces hardly doing anything, yes Malavika gets a fight scene but that’s it.

God knows what made the production companies People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment see fresh cashews and almonds in this stale ‘nut’ of a script that travels from current time Hyderabad to an unknown by gone era to a weird mansion in the midst of a jungle where we see Dadaji aka Sanjay Dutt in his most weird and uninterested avatar going bonkers for reason best known to the makers.

Worse, you quiver and shiver to find Prabhas disinterested almost like his on screen Dadaji in his role. what the hell was Boman Irani doing here.

So, is there any plus in ‘The Raja Saab’?

Yeah, Zarina Wahab as the grandmother is sincere right from the word go, the action choreographed by Ram-Laxman, King Solomon, Venkat and Jashuva are good at places, Rajeevan’s production designing, and Srinivas Kakileti’s art direction are decent. The Hindi dubbing is quite good.

The RajaSaab movie review – final words

Whether you are a fan of Prabhas or not, ‘The RajaSaab’ is an artless, weird, torture that questions what really the think tank of production houses who easily squander four hundred cores see in such ‘nuts’ in the name of script and darling of the masses star like Prabhas really bother about the script and just finish the job as they have received their hefty one hundred and fifty core remuneration. Seriously, are they making cinema or just minting money in the name of cinema.

belive it or not - 'The RajaSaab' ends with a hint of a sequel titled something like 'The RajaSaab Circus'...
