Kuberaa: Dhanush explains why it is a very special film

Known for letting his films speak for themselves, Dhanush is rarely seen on the promotional circuit. But with ‘Kuberaa’, the actor has made a rare exception—and for good reason.

Speaking at the film's promotional event, Dhanush shared, "We're very happy—we worked with such a brilliant, positive team. You don’t usually get to see me often; I don’t come out much [for promotions]. But this film, I believe, truly deserves to be promoted like this. It’s a very special film."

The decision to step forward underscores just how deeply ‘Kuberaa’ resonates with the National Award-winning actor. While details about his character remain tightly under wraps, glimpses from the trailer hint at emotional turmoil, complexity, and transformation. “A little bit about your character—because we can see what you're doing and what you're going through, and it's really giving us some pangs and pain,” he acknowledged.

A large part of his trust and commitment stems from his collaboration with director Sekhar Kammula. Opening up about the experience, Dhanush said, “Sekhar sir was brilliant. He taught me the nuances—what to do, how to do it, even the slang. He made life very easy for me. It’s a very different character from anything I’ve played before, so I really enjoyed the challenge. I truly enjoyed working with him. As I’ve said before, he’s a white-hearted angel from heaven.”

Produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the banners of Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd, it is co-produced by Vipul Agarwal and Manish Vasisth, with Mugafi as Presenter for the North of India, also leading the film’s distribution charge across the North region.

‘Kuberaa’ is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sekhar Kammula and has music by Devi Sri Prasad (DSP).  Starring Nagarjuna, Dhanush and Rashmika, the film is presented in five languages — Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam and is set to hit the screens worldwide on 20th June 2025.
