Veteran Marathi actor Ravindra Mahajani – the Vinod Khanna of Marathi cinema is no more

Veteran Marathi actor Ravindra Mahajani has passed away. Known as the Vinod Khanna of the Marathi industry due to his looks was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his rented apartment at Talegaon Dabhade – at the outskirts of Pune. He was 77.

Ravindra Mahajani was reportedly living alone for the past 8 months in a rented apartment in Pune’s Talegaon Dabhade while his family, including son Gashmeer Mahajani, were in Mumbai.

Yesterday Ravindra Mahajani's dead body was discovered by the cops after neighbors alarmed them. After a foul smell from the apartment got to the residents of the building, they alerted the police who rushed to the location for further investigation.

A team from Talegaon MIDC police station broke open the door, in the presence of local residents, and entered the house and found his body inside. The cops suspect that Ravindra Mahajani had passed away already about two to three days before the recovery of his body.

The cops had informed the family and the body has been taken for postmortem to determine the cause of his sudden death.

Ravindra Mahajani began his acting career with V Shantaram’s Zunj (1975) and acted in significant Marathi movies like Mumbaicha Fauzdar, Kalat Nakalat, Devta, Gondhalat Gondhal, Jeeva Sakha, Sarja.

Ravindra Mahajani was in Ashutosh Gowariker's Panipat as Malharrao Holkar.

Ravindra Mahajani’s son Gashmeer Mahajani is also an actor in Marathi and Hindi films. Gashmeer has won the best actor award for Deool Band and acted in Marathi films like Carry On Maratha, Kanha, Mala Kahi Problem Nahi. Gashmeer has also appeared in Bigg Boss 16 and the popular TV show Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal as Aman Oberoi.
