Baaghi 4 review: ‘Bloody’ Hell

‘Baaghi 4’ – This love revenge action thriller by A. Harsha starring Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa and Harnaaz Sandhu (in her Hindi film debut), underlines the bitter unsettling truth that we are rapidly losing our moral compass.

Baaghi 4 movie synopsis

Story is credited to producer Sajid Nadiadwala but it seems to be highly inspired or unofficial remake of 2013 Tamil blockbuster ‘Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu’ staring Bharath in lead. Anyways, at an imaginary place called Chandara – filled with mountains, beaches and colorful carnivals happening every weekend, an officer in from the Indian Navy Ronny (Tiger Shroff) bumps into the beautiful Alisha (Harnaaz Sandhu) a doctor whose latest phone becomes the collateral damage in Ronny’s chase to catch a local peddler.

Romance between the Doctor and the Navy officer blossoms but one day a car accident changes everything for Ronny. Alisha is no more and unable to cope with her loss, Ronny has to take treatment from a psychiatrist and his brother Jeetu (Shreyas Talpade) feels that Ronny is hallucinating and there is no Alisha at all.

A hooker with a heart of gold Olivia aka Parthistha (Sonam Bajwa) appears and finally we come to know that there was a girl called Alisha who stayed with her aunt in a mansion and there is a self-proclaimed demon by the name Chaco (Sanjay Dutt) who keeps tigers as pets in his haveli type house filled with portraits of maharaja-like figures lining walls. Chaco has a brother by the name Paulo who plays that strange flute while bringing his enemies to mute forever.

And yes, there are people wearing metal masks also reminding us of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ to make matters more absurd and surreal.

Baaghi 4 movie review

NGE

The above synopsis doesn’t suggest blood bath but director A. Harsha has made ‘Baaghi 4’ absurdly ultra-violent action thriller soaked in blood and gore. Tumhara torture mere liye warm up hai says Tiger during the climax. ‘Baaghi 4’ is an example of how desperate, hostilely and decadence is defining our mainstream cinema, why are we losing our moral compass?

The influence of Tarantino and Guy Ritche’s from the west fascinated the Bhardwaj and Kashyaps of Bollywood but they had an absorbing thread that showed the blood and gore and was not that pointless as it is in this case.

The trailer gave the feeling of the maker heavily influenced by Sandep Reddy’s ‘Animal’ starring Ranbir Kapoor but it had that solid father son emotion, great music, terrific back ground score and Ranbir Kapoor in a role never before seen avatar on screen. Of course, Bobby Deol was exceptional and yes there is Upendra Limaye in ‘Baaghi 4’ as well. Aur ha Saurabh Sachdeva is also there in ‘Baaghi 4’. But ‘Animal’ remains as an example of great presentation and everybody cannot be Sandeep Reddy Vanga. ‘Baaghi 4’ has no emotional connect and it’s a bizarre blood-soaked sadist ride.

Sanjay Dutt laughs, Tiger Shroff is either dukhi or angry, feels sad to see Shreyas Talpade again in a role that is much below his caliber. The ladies do impress, Sonam Bajwa and Harnaaz Sandhu have meat in their roles and they are quite good.

Baaghi 4 movie review - final words

NGE

Will end my review of this bizarre pointless blood-soaked fiction with a true incident that happened when I came out from the theatre after the film ended. A kid may be at the most aged ten was entering the theatre with his father. Knowing the fact that Tiger Shroff is favorite amongst kids I guessed he might be going for ‘Baaghi 4’. I have just survived this gory blood bath; I immediately asked the kid’s father whether he is going to watch ‘Baaghi 4’ with his son who is not even in his teens. The guy smiled and said yes. The smiling father shocked me and I politely pleaded him not to take his son for this bloody gore feast on screen. He listened but paid no attention and went ahead.

‘BAAGHI 4’ IS CERTIFID WITH ‘A’ CERTIFIACTE.

The parents are taking kids who are not even ten years of age for this blood-soaked indulgence, who are responsible?.

I doubt whether the kid will get the entry inside the audi. Yes, the parents are responsible but that does not take away the responsibility of the makers. Why is violence celebrated so much? Aren’t we rapidly losing our moral compass? as a maker, artiste, parent, individuals, human.

BLOODY HELL.

Going with one star out of five – 1/5 for this irresponsible blood-soaked exercise on screen.

Distributed by Pen Marudhar, ‘Baaghi 4’ - the fourth installment in the ‘Baaghi’ film series is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

‘Baaghi 4’ is running in theatres from September 05, 2025.
