Ramayana trailer review: Indian Cinema’s Biggest Global Spectacular Is Set To Create History

Namit Malhotra’s global 4,000-crore phenomenon on screen ‘Ramayana’ first part trailer is out and it seems on its way to create history for Indian cinema.

Nothing can be more grand and greater than this. The Diwali of 2026 is set to echo the chant of Jai ‘SiyaRam’ with a deafening chorus.

The most expected trailer is finally out today and it’s the EPIC that the world needs it desperately that can shoo all the superheroes of the world in one go.

The trailer first establishes Ravana and when we see Yash addressing himself as the King of the three loks – Prithvi, Swarg and Pataal its goose bumps for the fans and public in general.

After that Ram gets established and Ranbir Kapoor steals your heart.

Sai Pallavi as Sita is an example of perfect casting.

Ravie Dubey seems to be right under the skin of his characters Laxman.

Rakul Preet Singh as Supranakha is perfect and her dusky skin tone instead of the fair/ wheatish underlines the detailing.

 

Arun Govil, whose role as Lord Rama in Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayan’ for DD has become immortal, plays Ram’s father King Dashratha and watching him on screen brings back all the nostalgic memories of childhood.

Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi is another example of fine casting, same for Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara.

A glimpse of Shobhana Pillai as Kaikesi Ravan’s mother, Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari hints that this Ramayana by Nitesh Tiwari will have more to say from both ends laced with layers.

We also see a glimpse of Vivek Oberoi as Vidyutjihva, Saurabh Sachdeva as Mareech, Adinath Kothare as Bharata and Nitish Sharma as Shatrughna.

Though we strongly miss Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman for reasons better known to the makers, though the trailer shows a glimpse of Kumbhakarna reportedly played by Faisal Malik.

The making of Ramayana’ seems to be at par with any mega budget Hollywood project and the movie looks spectacularly grand setting new standards in Indian cinema’s storytelling.

Where the global world of superheroes is ruled by Hollywood’s Superman, Batman, Spider Man, Iron Man, He Man, etc etc in which the world seems to be in danger always on the verge of collapsing playing on fear, ‘Ramayana’ – the great Indian epic showcases the era of ‘Ram Rajya’ – a never ending motivational lesson on duty, responsibility and the way of life for Humans.  

That’s the beauty of Indian history and tradition. Nothing better than one of the greatest epic on earth – Ramayana to bring this to the world in such a great manner.

Many movies on Prabhu Shree Ram has been made in India before and in different Indian languages but nothing has been done in such a grand scale globally.

Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari deserve a good pat on their back in achieving this feat.
