Chhalle Mundiyan movie review: A simple feel good charmer

What: Chhalle Mundiyan - Ammy Virk and Mandy Thakar starrer direct to OTT release is a charmingly feel good comedy of confusion.

OTT movie Chhalle Mundiyan synopsis

It’s rural Punjab and Pammi (Ammy Virk) has returned from foreign with a Caucasian woman and a child of his friend.

Pammi love of life Jassi (Mandy Thakar) has been waiting and when in excitement she rushes to see her beloved, Jassi is shocked to see that Caucasian woman and Pammi posing happily for a picture along with the child.

The simple Jassi in all her innocence assumes that Pammi is married to that Caucasian woman. Confusion starts and marriage of Jassi is fixed to a local good for nothing fraud (played by Karamjit Anmol) while marriage of Pammi gets fixed with the niece (played by Sonia Kaur) of a powerful but funny landlord.

Enters Kulwinder Billa and light hearted fun begins.

OTT movie Chhalle Mundiyan review

Punjabi comedy movies have their own flavor. Sometimes it is a bit OTT but they deliver what the audience wants. Here director Sunil Puri (credited for Sadi Gali Aaya Karo 2015 on IMDB) while the press release says debutant, keeps it simple and natural to tickle our funny bones.

It’s not a LOL like those Punjabi super hits starring Diljit Dosnajh or Gippy Grewal but we have Ammy Virk who with his winning charm and Mandy Thakar with her simple, raw and natural grace laced with moments that bring smile makes it a decent watch.

Sunil Puri keeps it simple and straight, while after a while the punches and gags lose steam, the final moment’s pumps up the proceedings for a feel good end.

The music goes with the flow and mood of the film.

Final words

Chhalle Mundiyan is a simple decent family fun, coming directly on OTT, its harmless entertainment streaming on SonyLIV from September 23, 2022.
