OTT web series Undekhi season 2 synopsis
The first season of SonyLIV’s Undekhi was helmed by Ashish R Shukla, produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Banijay Asia, the series left us at a cliffhanger.
The second season smoothly picks up from there with DSP Ghosh (played by Dibyendu Bhattacharya) trying to save Koyal (Apeksha Porwal) from the merciless Rinku (Surya Sharma).
While the Atwals with the patriarch Papaji (played by Harsh Chhaya) are grappling with their jeopardized business and consignments going kaput, Teji( Aanchal Singh) is on track in scheming and unleashing vengeance on her in-laws surreptitiously.
On the other hand, Koyal recuperates with the help of a savior (Meiyang Chang) and the wedding photographers are attacked by Rinku's henchmen.
Like the first season, the events unfold at a brisk pace against the scenic mountains landscapes of Manali. DoP Murzy Pagdiwala captures the locales and nature abundant with cloud-clad hills, forests and fountains sumptuously.
But what makes Undekhi intriguing is the taut and solid writing by Ameya Sarda and Anahata Menon, the latter is also credited with the screenplay and dialogues - replete with ear-assaulting cuss words in the colloquial form.
Shukla conjures up an unapologetically tense atmosphere with a pressure cooker urgency, each episode, lasting for around 40 minutes, moves with a clockwork precision and the leads to the next with ample suspense around the narrative. In one of his interviews, he had mentioned that the characters were inspired from his personal experiences and some true incidents. There is no pretense in his film-making approach here in the thrilling potboiler.
The bloody and deadly game of survival is powered by superlative performances. Harsh Chhaya imbues the perennially sloshed Papaji with a vile quality and an unmistakable accent.
Dibyendu Bhattacharya performs with conviction, adorning his character with sardonic wit.
The real credit goes to the talented Surya Sharma playing the faithful and hot-headed Rinku Paaji with significant confidence.
Ankur Rathee is likeable as the genteel Daman and Apeksha Porwal gets more meat in her role and she does a fabulous job.
Aanchal Singh registers an impact playing a meaty part. After showcasing her acting prowess in the Netflix series, Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen,the talented actress is on a rise in her career graph and taking up complex roles.

Nandish Singh Sandhu, playing the calculative and observant Samarth, Tej Shapru playing Arjan Singh and Chang playing the mountain-man with panache. and from the supporting cast Shyam Bhimsaria as Shambhu – makes his presence felt amongst the talented surroundings and leaves a fine impression.
Seeing is disbelieving. Undekhi underlines the fact that the rules and anarchy of the jungle still pervades the mindset of the powerful and influential people with misplaced notion of entitlement and who oppress the poor and the helpless. It is also a scathing commentary on the shifting morals of the people who are driven by greed and money.
I am going with 4 stars out of 5 for Undekhi.The 10-Part gripping series is streaming on Sony LIV.
