“We rejected multiple OTT deals for Ghani” says Allu Bobby

Ghani, the latest Telugu film that got released yesterday 8th of April marks the debut of Allu Arjun's brother Allu Bobby as the producer. In an interview with cineblues Allu Bobby speaks about the film, future plans, working on Aamir's Ghajini, Allu Arjun's pan India stardom, comparisons with Ram Charan and more

It doesn't feel like my debut film

Allu Bobby is the elder brother of Allu Arjun, nephew of Chiranjeevi and son of mega producer Allu Aravind. He is making his debut as a producer with Varun Tej's Ghani. When asked in spite of coming from a producer's family, what made him join films so late, Bobby says "I have been working from behind the scenes for over 15 years now. I was the one who brought the Qube technology in the south. All the films that my father made, I have worked on the script selection".

For everything there is a time

When asked what made him turn producer now, Bobby says "Everything has a time for itself. Varun wanted to do a sports drama and approached me. I loved the script and decided I should make it on my own and here I am with the release".

Ghani's underlying emotions attracted me

Ghani's underlying emotions attracted me

When asked what is new about this sports drama, Bobby says "Films on boxing have been made a lot in Hindi. But for the Telugu audience, this is new and the underlying emotions in the main lead's role and the back-story attracted me a lot".

Saiee Manjrekar was signed only for that reason

When asked why he chose Saiee Majrekar as the heroine, Bobby says "We had some big names in mind but my director Kiran was certain that he wanted a popular face who should be new to Telugu cinema. That was the time Dabangg 3 came out and we signed Saiee Manjrekar.

We rejected multiple OTT deals for Ghani

The film was in the making for three years and postponed six times. When asked about it, Bobby says "Ghani is a big screen experience. We got so many good offers for an OTT release but we stuck to our guts and are releasing it on the big screen".

Varun Tej gave his heart and soul for Ghani

When asked about the hero Varun Tej's transformation, Bobby says "He has given his heart and soul for the film. The manner in which he maintained his body for three long years is no joke. He has given a mind blowing performance in the film and post this movie, he will get big Hindi offers as well".

I have good experience of working on a Bollywood film

Now that his dad is making films in Hindi, we asked him when he will plunge into Bollywood. Bobby says "I had already worked on Ghajini in the past and have experience as to how the Hindi industry works. My dad produced the film and I worked on several aspects of the film. In the future, I will surely make Hindi films"

Failure is the reason for Allu Arjun's massive success

Allu Arjun has seen massive success in Hindi. When asked about it, Bobby says "Allu Arjun gave a big flop in the form of Na Peru Surya '' He did not have any film for the next two years. That is the time he worked on what the audience was expecting from him and came back with a bang with Ala Vaikunthapuramlo. Pushpa is just a sample and I feel Allu Arjun will rule Bollywood as well.

One should not compare Ram Charan and Allu Arjun

Ram Charan is Allu Bobby's first cousin and when asked about the comparison between Charan and Allu Arjun, Bobby says "Both the stars have their own following and are coming of age as actors. Each of them have their own merits and demerits but one should not compare them".

AHA will make big strides in the future

Not many know that Allu Bobby is also the brain child of the famous OTT platform AHA which has become quite popular. When asked about its expansion in Hindi, Allu Bobby says "AHA is a pure Telugu OTT platform and we have slowly got into Tamil now. In the days to come, we will also plan for Hindi content but there is a long way to go".
